Essay on "Faisal Mosque"

The Faisal Mosque is one of the most iconic landmarks of Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. It is one of the largest mosques in the world, and its unique architecture and beautiful design make it a must-visit destination for tourists from around the globe. In this essay, we will explore the history, design, and significance of the Faisal Mosque.

The Faisal Mosque was completed in 1986 and is named after King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, who donated funds for its construction. The mosque was designed by Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay and is located at the foot of the Margalla Hills, which provides a stunning backdrop for the mosque's beautiful design.

The mosque's architecture is a blend of traditional Islamic and modern styles, making it a unique and breathtaking structure. The mosque's design is inspired by the Bedouin tent, with a triangular prayer hall that can accommodate up to 100,000 worshippers. The mosque's white marble exterior is adorned with four towering minarets, which stand at a height of 88 meters, making them some of the tallest minarets in the world.

The interior of the mosque is equally impressive, with a grand prayer hall that is decorated with beautiful Islamic calligraphy and intricate tile work. The mosque's unique design and beautiful aesthetics make it a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, and it has become a symbol of the city's cultural and religious identity.

The significance of the Faisal Mosque extends beyond its architectural and aesthetic beauty. It is an important place of worship for Muslims in Pakistan and is a symbol of the country's strong ties with Saudi Arabia, which has provided significant support for the mosque's construction and maintenance. The mosque is also a symbol of unity and harmony, as it brings together Muslims from different backgrounds and cultures to worship together in one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring structures in the world.

In conclusion, the Faisal Mosque is one of the most iconic landmarks of Islamabad and a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Pakistan. Its unique design, stunning aesthetics, and cultural significance make it an important symbol of the city's identity and a source of pride for Pakistanis around the world. Whether you are a tourist or a local, a visit to the Faisal Mosque is an unforgettable experience that will leave you in awe of the beauty and magnificence of Islamic architecture.

Explanation of the Poem: On the Grasshopper and Cricket | John Keats

The Poetry of earth is never dead: When all the birds are faint with the hot sun, And hide in cooling trees, a voice will run From hedge to hedge about the new-mown mead; Explanation In the very start of this poem, the poet affirms that the ‘music of earth’ is not dead, but it is always going because it is live. Even at the time when all the singing birds are extremely tired in the hot summer season and take shelter under the shady branches of trees, the nature’s song can still be heard. You will hear a voice running from hedge to hedge around the newly-cut grasslands is that of a Grasshopper. That is the Grasshopper’s—he takes the lead In summer luxury,—he has never done With his delights; for when tired out with fun He rests at ease beneath some pleasant weed. Explanation In the previous stanza we learnt that a voice which runs from hedge to hedge around the newly cut grasslands is that of a Grasshopper. In this stanza, the poet tells us more about the grasshopper. He has the luxury of taking over the duty of everlasting song of earth in summer, as he is never filled with delights. The grasshopper is cheerful in summer season. He takes rest under the pleasant weeds only when he is ‘tired out with fun’. The poetry of earth is ceasing never: On a lone winter evening, when the frost Has wrought a silence, from the stove there shrills During the cold winter season, the birds are silent. There is complete silence on the frosty winter days. But the earth has its own way of expressing pleasure and joys. The song of a cricket can be heard which breaks this silence. So, the chilly atmosphere forces the cricket to seek warmth indoors but cannot stop his music. Rather, his music gets louder with time. The Cricket’s song, in warmth increasing ever, And seems to one in drowsiness half lost, The Grasshopper’s among some grassy hills. To a sleepy or drowsy man, the cricket’s song seems like the Grasshopper’s voice among some grassy hills. Here the poet means that people like to feel the warmth of summer even in bleak winter by mistaking the Cricket’s song for the Grasshopper’s.

Poem: Robin

Robin sang sweetly

When the days were bright:

'Thanks, thanks for summer,'

He sang with all his might.

Robin sang sweetly,

In the autumn days,

'There are fruits for everyone;

Let all give praise.'

In the cold and wintry weather,

Still hear his song:

'Somebody must sing,' said Robin

'Or winter will seem long.'

When the spring came back again,

He sang, 'I told you so!

Keep on singing through the winter

It will always go.'

Poem 1 - The Newcomer by Brian Patten | Questions and Answers | New Oxford Modern...

Qa. How do the animals feel about the newcomer? What do you think is the main emotion in the poem?
Ans. No animal feels happy about the newcomer. They are all scared, shocked and suspicious about its intervention in their natural life. Each animal wants to warn the other animals of its kind as soon as possible. The main emotions or feelings in the poem are those of fear, suspicion, anticipation, awe, and surprise.
Qb. There are a lot of negatives in the poem. What is the effect of the word “no” repeated again and again?
Qc. What is meant by ‘Not even the wing of a ghost’? Does it mean that humans have never had wings?
Ans: The repetition of the word ‘no’ helps to paint a dark or negative picture. “No” shows the lack of identification of the newcomer’s personality. It brings out or reiterates the great difference between the unwelcome visitor and the other animals living in the wild world.
Ans: In the river, the humans ‘ignore the impassable dam: In the warren, they dig deeper than the animals ‘dare’ go. This tells us that they have abilities far grater than those of the other animals.
Ans: It means that the newcomer hasn’t even the slightest physical similarity with any sort of bird. It is completely wingless. In spite of having no wings and feather, it can fly higher than birds. Qd. What do the humans do in the river and in the warren? What do these actions tell us about the abilities of humans?
Qe. Do you think that this poem is fair to human beings?
Qf. Can you imagine the world in which humanity does not ‘kill, kill and kill’? What would this be like? Discuss in your class whether this would be a better world?
Ans: No, this is not fair to human beings who are said to be like killing machines. There are thousands of people who do their level best to protect nature and wildlife in their own regions. They even educate others for the welfare and protection of animals. It is true about half of the humans who are not kind towards animals and nature.
Ans: No, I can’t imagine an overpopulated world without killing or violence. Man is always busy in killing even men at one place or the other. If it is at peace, the world would be like paradise. Such a peaceful situation would be an ideal state for us.

Knee pain was the most common complaint, followed by shoulder and hip pain, but joint pain can affect any part of your body, from your ankles and feet to your shoulders and hands. As you get older, painful joints become increasingly more common.

But you need not worry about it. Go to your doctor and take advice and follow it. Never forget your daily exercise.
