Summer Vacation Homework for Class 3



Summer Break Task
Session 2015-2016
Class: 3
Writing Practice
i.                    Writing all the lessons in a separate notebook – one page from the covered lessons daily.
ii.                  Buy a book for cursive handwriting. Available in the bookshops
Textbook
iii.                Make a list of nouns from the already taught lessons. (Lesson 1 to 5)
Each kind in its own column – Common, Proper, Collective etc.
iv.                Make a list of adjectives from the taught lessons. (Lesson 1 to 5)
v.                  Make a list of nouns of at least 50 things you see in your home.
vi.                Make a list of verbs from the taught lessons. (Lesson 1 to 5)
vii.              Make FIVE sentences using the following conjunctions:
a.       but                        b. and              c. because       d. although
Grammar and Composition
viii.            Describe the pictures given in Broadway Book (Page No. 36, 39, 47, 52, 63, 71, 109   and apart from them, find out any TEN more pictures from internet or newspapers. Describe one picture every week.
ix.                Prepare THREE speeches and memorize them.
a.       Knowledge is Power         b. Health is Wealth     c. Money is Not Everything
x.                  Write paragraphs on the following topics:
a.       My Hobby             b. Book Reading                     c. Good Manners       
xi.                Use any 10 words (preferably verbs) from each lesson (from both Textbook-Broadway and The Grammar Tree) in sentences of your own and memorize. The following words are compulsory.
a.  Catch                      b. enjoyed                   c. continued                d. promise      
e.  refused                   f. replied                      g. wish                         h. whispered
 i. steal                         j. pluck
       x.        Consult dictionary and find out the meanings of any 10 difficult words from the lessons of both the above mentioned books. Also memorize their spelling for dictation. The following words must be written along with their meanings in your neat notebook:
           a.   lagoon                   b. flavour         c. shallow        d. crew            e.         e. swallow
           f.    frightened             g. steeple         h. kennel          i. amazing        j. unicorn
xi.        Read any THREE stories and after summer break we will discuss them in the class.
Notebooks
xii.       Keep two notebooks – one for hand writing practice and the other for the work mentioned above.
